The stringent specifications followed by Interplast in pipe production are certified in its labs with tests specified by European standard 12202, German DIN 8077/78 and Spanish UNE 53380. The lab distributes only certified pipes that have been quality tested in the following ways:
• Raw material flow test. This is a fixed test that is carried out each time raw materials are received. The flow of the raw materials is very important in defining the temperature profile of the Extruder and thus homogenization of the material.
• Visual inspection of pipe surface, measurement of outer diameter and measurement of wall thickness by use of certified instruments. These are checks that certify ongoing measurements carried out throughout production.
• Checking of pipe linear expansion. Test samples from each production lot remain in the lab stove at 135°C for 120min (2h). The measurement results should not exceed 2% in accordance with DIN 8078 - UNE 53380 & EN 12202. Aqua-plus pipes present an elongation of @0.5%, which is 75% lower than the requirements of the above-mentioned specifications.
• Microscopic homogenization check. This is one of the most important checks and in conjunction with raw material flow it defines the temperature profile and turns of the extruder. Aqua-plus pipes display the best possible homogenization, proving their long lifespan.
• Internal pressure check, remaining for 1 hour at 20°C and 95°C, 22, 165 and 1000 hours at 95°C as specified by European standards, German DIN 8078 and Spanish UNE 53380.
• Impact test according to the requirements of DIN 8078, UNE 53380, EN 12202 standards, and DIN 53453 which describes the testing method. PP-R pipes should respond without breakage to temperatures of 0°C ±1 and be subjected to a 15-Joule pendulum hammer "strike". In an effort to improve the characteristics of its products, Interplast tests Aqua-plus pipes at -5°C with a 25-Joule hammer strike, which exceeds the requirement by 66%.
