Como-Pex Pipes

Interplast manufactures a wide range of pipes for hot and cold-water plumbing installations. Como-pex pipes are manufactured in dimensions ranging from 12mm to 32mm nd are available in coils or straight sections.

Como-pex pipes are produced of cross-linked polyethylene. With the aid of silanes, high temperature and humidity conditions, chemical bonds are created between the molecular chains of the polyethylene and thus cross-linking is achieved. The outcome of this process is a material with advanced features.

Como-pex pipes combine elasticity, high tensile strength and resistance to high temperatures. The pipes have a low friction factor and their smooth outer surface prevents the build-up of salt residues. They have been designed for a lifespan of over 50 years, at temperatures up to 95°C and operating pressure from 6 to 10bar. Temperature peaks of 110°C at 4 bar pressure do not affect Como-pex pipes, as their cross-linked structure enables them to return to their original shape.

Como-pex pipes are produced with or without oxygen barrier. The pipes meet and exceed European standard EN12318 and German DIN 16892/16893. The oxygen barrier pipes also meet DIN 4726 and are suitably designed for use in heating installations. The external EVOH layer prevents oxygen from entering the pipe and the consequent corrosion of the metal components of the system.

Como-pex pipes are certified for mechanical strength by SKZ Germany and AENOR Spain, and for suitability for drinking water by WRAS Great Britain. The pipes have been tested by the Hellenic Organisation for Standardisation (ELOT) and the State General Laboratory.
